EXCELLENCE IN LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP
Each year, we award funds for higher education to aspiring post-secondary students through the Sandy Mazur Excellence in Leadership scholarship.
Outstanding students who demonstrate excellence in leadership and who wish to further their education through university programs, technical schools, or skilled training can apply. Our franchise community originated and funds this program in honor of former Spherion president Sandy Mazur.
The 2026 Sandy Mazur Scholarship is open! Here's what you need to know to apply.
Spherion's franchisee-funded Sandy Mazur Excellence in Leadership scholarship awards funds to outstanding students who wish to further their education with college, technical, or skilled training. This year, we're giving three deserving students up to $5,000 each!
This scholarship honors the contributions of past Spherion president Sandy Mazur and recognizes students who best represent the excellence and passion Sandy displayed during her distinguished 16-year tenure as President of Spherion.
The Spherion franchise community, led by franchise owners Michael Chalmers and Beth DeLaney, funds the scholarship and promotes it to potential applicants. The Ohio-based nonprofit Richland County Foundation collects the online applications. With names and locations removed, Spherion's franchise community reviews the applicants and selects the winner. The Richland County Foundation disburses the scholarship grants.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must plan to pursue a degree or certificate at a career technical, 2-year or 4-year institution.
Applicants must hold a 2.5 GPA or higher.
Applicants must attach the current year's Student Aid Report (SAR) generated by FAFSA to their application.
Applicants must share examples of their dedication to community service and how they plan to "pay it forward" in their future endeavors.
Scholarship is merit-based although financial need will be considered.
The deadline to apply online is April 30, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
Apply now by clicking the button. You will go to the Richland County Foundation website, an Ohio-based nonprofit that helps Spherion administer this scholarship. Once on the site, you can complete your scholarship application in one visit, or create an account that lets you save your progress and finish it later.
The Foundation will automatically send you an email with your username and a link back to the portal. Save that email for future reference.
Once logged into the Foundation portal, look for the "2026-2027 Sandy Mazur / Spherion Excellence in Leadership Scholarship." You can scroll through the list of scholarships the Foundation manages or use the search bar in the upper right corner to find our application.
You can view a preview of the scholarship application by clicking on "Preview" within our scholarship information box, or go straight to the application by clicking on "Apply." Within the application, you can complete it all at once or over multiple sessions. To save your progress, click "Save Application" at the bottom of the application screen. To submit it, click "Submit Application."

Beyond encouraging students you know to apply for the Sandy Mazur Scholarship, you can donate to the scholarship fund via The Richland County Foundation.
